Overview
UW – Fox offers a wide variety of anthropology courses. Whether you are interested in forensic anthropology, archaeology, or cultural anthropology, we have courses for you! We offer the introductory courses in general anthropology, archaeology, and cultural to get you started and then provide a variety of other courses which may peak your interests. Anthropology of Religion, Magic, and Witchcraft (ANT 343) and Food, Culture and Identity (ANT 150) are two newer courses offered on this campus. These classes take you off campus and into fieldwork of your choice. For those interested in forensic sciences, Introduction to Physical Anthropology (ANT 105) and Human Skeleton (ANT 303) will get you started in the right direction.
You can earn an associate of arts and sciences degree with an emphasis in anthropology. All it takes is for you to pass ANT 100, General Anthropology and any other two anthropology courses. Since we do not offer majors or minors at UW Colleges, this is one way for you to demonstrate a strong interest in the field of anthropology.
If you are interested in working on a specific research project, please feel free to contact either of the anthropology instructors with a proposal. We will be happy to work with you!
Additionally, UW-Fox Valley offers a pre-major program in archaeology that articulates with UW-La Crosse's BS/BA major in archaeological studies. Anthropology majors and minors offered in Wisconsin can be obtained from programs at UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, Lawrence University, Beloit College, Ripon College, and Marquette University (click here for links to Wisconsin universities that offer a major in anthropology).
