Toward Community: Unity in Diversity

The main goal of TC is to ensure that the Fox Cities is welcoming to people of diverse backgrounds. The group, founded 9 years ago and open to all members of the community, plans several multicultural events each year, such as Diversity Picnic, Foods of All Nations, and the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Interdenominational Service. This is a volunteer not-for-profit group.

The Hmong/American Partnership

Located less than a mile from UW-Fox Valley.

The Hmong American Partnership Fox Valley Inc. (HAP) serves Appleton and the surrounding Fox Cities. The HAP is a non-profit organization working to provide opportunity, service and partnerships in service to help the Fox River Valley’s Hmong integrate themselves into society’s mainstream and reach their full potential.

African Heritage, Inc.

Organization’s Goals:

  • Provide a medium for educational and cultural exchanges between Africans, Peoples of African descent and all people who have an interest in African issues.
  • Provide volunteer services to the community
  • Support existing non-profit groups in the community, which promote similar ideas and philosophy, aligned with the organization
  • Foster better relations and promote interactions among community dwellers, local leadership, and governmental and non-governmental agencies.
  • Provide a medium for the exchange and sharing of all peoples of other cultures and heritages.
  • Provide a support system for peoples of African descent.
  • Provide a support base as necessary for members of the organization.
  • Promote clear and positive African images.
  • Act as a resource for people interested in African issues.

Hispanic Culture Coalition

The mission of the Hispanic Culture Coalition of the Fox Valley is to promote Hispanic culture in the Fox Valley area through cultural events and through the formation and promotion of cultural groups, such as youth folkloric ballet and an

Aztec dance group. The HC Coalition believes that such activities will instill a feeling of self worth in the Hispanic community while participation in the Aztec and ballet groups will impart onto the Hispanic youth a sense of belonging in the Hispanic community and in the larger Fox Valley area.

Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association

The Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association serves as a connecting point for all the people who are either members of the Association or have a genuine interest in the Chinese people, heritage, and culture.

The mission of the Northeast Wisconsin Chinese Association is to serve and support the local Chinese population and the people who are friends of the Chinese people in northeast Wisconsin. It also strives to promote cultural exchange, build mutual trust, and respect in the community.

The mission of the Harmony Café is to provide a safe, respectful, peaceful and intentionally welcoming environment for ALL people to interact in a positive, healthy way.

The Harmony Café will:

  • Provide community members and groups with resources and opportunities for education and awareness building, leadership development, collaboration and networking, and support and advocacy
  • Show special appreciation for people whose abilities, beliefs, experiences, or identities can lead them to feel unsafe, unwelcome or unvalued in our community
