Placement Testing
Before you can register for classes, you will need to know what classes you should take. Our placement tests will provide you with this important information.
You will receive placement test registration information with your Admission Letter. You can take up to two placement tests on the same day. You will need to schedule your placement tests at least three weeks prior to the day you register for classes.
English and Math
Placement tests in English and math last 90 minutes each and are required of students entering UWFox.
If you previously took an AP test or English or math class at another college or university or a CAPP course, however; the placement tests may not be necessary. Any questions about this should be directed to Brenda Rickert (brenda.rickert@uwc.edu)
Foreign Language
If you’re interested in enrolling in a foreign language course above first-semester level, you’ll need to take a placement test for that language. We offer tests in Spanish, French, and German; each one lasts 60 minutes.
If you took foreign language in high school and wish to continue studying the same language, you are advised to take the test to help determine which UWFox class would be most appropriate. Depending on placement, you may be eligible to earn retroactive college credits.
It is helpful to keep in mind that many 4-year campuses require foreign language for either admission or graduation.
