Men and Women take home State Championship Titles!!!!

En route to the Men’s State Team title, Fox earned flight championships at #1 Singles (Jesse Swiechowski, the first Fox player to capture the overall title since current Fox assistant coach Tou Wa Chang), #3 Singles (Paul Karpenko), #5 Singles (Puspa Subedi), and #1 Doubles (Swiechowski/David Shaver, repeating as overall Doubles Champions after Ross Kohlhase/Ben Krickeberg won the title for Fox the previous year).

State Runnerup finishes were earned at #2 Singles (David Shaver), #4 Singles (Tuan Tran), and #2 Doubles (Tran/Subedi).  Semifinalist finishes were achieved by Collin Volpintesta at #6 Singles and by Karpenko/Ben Brooker at #3 Doubles.  Tyler Lemond and Mark Trunk did not play due to weather.

Swiechowski finished his career at Fox undefeated in State Tournament play, while Shaver completed his career with only one loss. The Cyclones finished the tournament with an incredible 20-point team total, improving over last year’s 16-point title winning performance. UWFV Coach Christopher Wylie earned Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive year.

On the women’s side, State Championships were won by Abby Ross and Jena Sieckert  at the #1 Doubles position, defeating UW-Marshfield in the final. Sieckert captured the #2 Singles Championship in a tough three set match against UW-Baraboo.  Stephanie Diedrich captured the Championship for Fox at #4 Singles, again defeating UW-Marshfield.

State Runnerup finishes were won by Stephanie Nabbefeldt and Jackie Kamps at the #2 Doubles position, Ross at the #1 Singles flight, and Nabbefeldt at #3 Singles. UWFV Coach Christopher Wylie was named Coach of the Year.
