The Performers

Sculptures - The Performers"The Performers", three towering figures approximately 12 feet tall, were designed and constructed by De Pere artist Ned Cain. They appear at the main entrance walkway to the Communication Arts Center.

The sculptures are made of welded aluminum cut from sheet materials. Cain chose aluminum as his medium because of size and weight, maintenance issues, and durability. He also felt this medium was a "good fit for the surroundings."

The three larger than life figures placed along the entry sidewalk clearly help to define the purpose of the building. The sculptor’s intention was to "imagine those who pass to wonder and think, and make the south entry as a meeting place for students, guests, and the public."

Gayle Chatfield provided the funding. "The Performers" is named in honor of Frank Shattuck.
