Distance Education Courses
What Is Distance Education?
Distance education allows a student to participate in a course at a location other than that of the instructor. Distance education is primarily used to offer sophomore level Computer Science courses that cannot be offered at all local campuses because of lack of sufficient enrollment to support the course.
We offer several courses via distance education using using the Microsoft Office Live Meeting technology, which provides a shared computer screen and an audio connection. One course is offered as a purely online course, through UW Colleges Online. We will also begin offering courses using streaming video technology where a face-to-face course is video taped along with any presentation slides and made available asynchronously to students.
How to Enroll
Most of our distance education courses are made available the same way any other UW Colleges course is, so you simply enroll in them at your local campus. You may also contact the course instructors directly for information about course content, entry requirements and prerequisites. The exception is our online course, which can be taken from anywhere with an Internet connection through UW Colleges Online.
