This is a legitimate educational activity put on by a recognized campus student group. The cost of the performance, as well as the cost to rent the campus facility, is being paid for by student fees. No tax payer funds are involved in bringing and staging this performance at UWFox. UWFox defends and supports the students' right to put on this show. UWFox considers this show to be a form of art and free expression and a learning opportunity for students. UWFox is committed to defending free speech and free artistic expression by students and faculty. That is an important part of a college education everywhere. The university does not necessarily endorse any particular point of view or opinion as expressed by students or faculty in this show or any other. "Drag shows" are a popular and traditional form of theater that are performed at scores of college campuses every year, both public and private, religious and secular. "Drag" performance is a tradition that goes back to old English folk performances in the middle ages, and it was common practice in Shakespeare's plays.
