|Description||On Friday, October 17, at 7:30 pm, in Perry Hall on the UW- Fox campus, the Fox Valley Concert Band under the direction of Dr. Marc Sackman will present its opening concert of the 2014-105 concert season. The program will include a wide range of music from many different ears and styles. We will begin with Ludwig van Beethovenís Egmont Overture. This will be followed by Flourish for Symphonic Band by UW- Oshkosh Professor Ed Martin. Also on the program is music form the 1939 movie Sea Hawk by Erich Korngold. There are mnany pices in the band repertoire based on hymns or folks tunes, and the band will perform two of thoseóFrank Ticheliís interpretation of Amazing Grace and the classic work by Haydn Wood, Mannin Veen, which is based on the hymns and folk music of the Isle of Man. No band concert would be complete without a march, and this evening we will play The Gallant Seventh March, a late work by the march king, John Philip Sousa. The concert is free and open to the public.
