Folk artists Corey Chisel and Adriel Denae Harris graced UW-Fox with their presence, performing two special live acoustic sets for fans March 27.

The Appleton native and Adriel played an intimate, hour-long show sans band over the noon hour and later that evening, performing singles like Times Won't Change, Never Meant to Love You and the thigh-slapping blues of Over Jordan.

"I find Cory Chisel and Adriel Harris to be a soothing elixir for the ear," sophomore Jessica Kautz said.

"It's not every day that you can feel connected to a musician because usually you feel like another face in the crowd. They were so down-to-earth and charismatic that I could relate to what they were singing."

The pair stopped by the Fox Valley while on tour to promote Corey Chisel and the Wandering Sons' 2012 sophomore album, Old Believers. The band also played a sold-out show at Cranky Pat's in Neenah on April 5 and will continue their tour through May.

"I was super excited to see them come to campus as I had been a fan of him for a long time," sophomore John Doyle said.

"They work well together, they are able to play off each other and not just play the notes assigned. Both voices were amazing with a lot of talent," sophomore Nikki Costley said.

Recorded in Nashville, the band's album was released in June and was produced by singer-songwriter Brendan Benson of The Raconteurs.

The record is about rebuilding and there is a directness to the songwriting, in Chisel's own words.

"I think one of the best things about being a songwriter and about living a life as an artist, is that you really don't get rid of anything, you kind of just drag it with you the rest of your life, and hopefully you can feel that on this record. We're still dancing with those same inspired moments. This record is a culmination of all that," Chisel said of the release in the group's web bio.

Old Believers is available for download through the band's website, Amazon.com and iTunes.
