Continuing Education Programming and Marketing Specialist
Position Overview
This is a full-time, 12-month, non-instructional academic staff position. This position assists in developing, coordinating and marketing continuing education programs at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Campus and reports to the UW-Fox Valley Director of Continuing Education. As this position is part of a cost-recovery program, yearly renewal will be dependent on sufficient funding.
Major Job Responsibilities
Assist the Office of Continuing Education Director with the development, coordination, and marketing of Continuing Education programs. Specifically:
- Assist to develop and design materials to market the Office of Continuing Education’s programming (This may include flyers, brochures, catalog, social media marketing and other pieces, as needed). Marketing materials will comply with the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley integrated marketing effort.
- Work with University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley University Relations, and Campus Marketing Specialist in developing a comprehensive marketing plan.
- Promote Continuing Education on the campus, in the community and in the state as a whole.
- Provide support for credit and non-credit programming, customized training, youth programming, and other programming as assigned.
- Recruit and hire instructors for programming.
- Conduct program evaluations as needed.
- Understand relevant UW College program policies and procedures.
- Monitor various programs regarding the marketing, customer relations, set-up, volunteer recruitment and evaluation.
- Promote and recruit sponsorships for specific programs.
Provides lead for the following items:
- Draft press releases for local media promoting current and upcoming classes.
- Document customer contacts in a computerized database with accuracy.
- Maintain updated email address database.
- Conduct marketing and related duties as assigned.
- Become proficient with UW Colleges registration software.
- Register customers, authorize payments, prepare and send confirmations to participants and instructors.
- Serve as liaison with instructors to determine classroom set up needs
- Provide assessment, problem solving, information and referral, and crisis intervention when necessary in an empathetic and nonjudgmental manner.
- Participate in ongoing training and staff meetings.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are essential. The candidate must provide excellent customer service to program participants, instructors, UW-Colleges staff, and the Fox Cities community as a whole.
Candidate must be:
- Skilled in the use of MS Office Suite products.
- Eager to learn and use specialized electronic marketing and database programs.
- Experienced in community outreach; customer service and supporting others; working with adults, parents and youth, troubleshooting, managing conflict resolution; and working with diverse communities.
- Able and willing to work as programming requires. This may occasionally include evening or weekend work.
