FOX Biology Lecturer Wanted
Responsibilities
The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley (Menasha, WI) is searching for lecturer to teach Concepts of Biology (BIO 101) or Environmental Science (BIO 191) courses for Fall 2012 with possible continuation into Spring 2013. Load could vary between half-time to full-time depending upon qualifications and course availability.
Qualifications
MS degree required, Ph.D. preferred, in the biological sciences. For BIO 101 previous teaching experience in introductory biology, environmental science or any upper-level biology course is desirable. For BIO 191 previous teaching experience in environmental science or ecology is preferred.
Course descriptions
BIO 101 Concepts of Biology
5 credits. An introduction to the fundamental principles of living organisms. Includes cell and tissue structure, growth, basic physiological processes, reproduction and inheritance, classification, evolution and ecology. Lecture, lab, and may also include demonstrations, discussion and field trips.
BIO 191 Environmental Science
4 credits. A contemporary study of the natural world through the human perspective. Emphasis on humans as a modifying force in the biophysical environment, including selected topics in ecological principles, pollution, population biology, and environmental management. This course meets the statutory requirement for Conservation of Natural Resources required for State certification for teachers of science and social sciences. Lecture, lab, and may include demonstrations, discussions, and field trips.

Salary
Salary is based on level of appointment and rank. For example, a 54.4% appointment would be paid $9,280 for one semester at the associate lecturer level and $11,036 at the senior lecture level. Salary for appointments of 70% or higher are computed at a higher base pay.
