Position Overview

The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley (Menasha, WI) is searching for a Lecturer of Chemistry for the Fall 2009 semester with classes beginning August 26 and Spring 2010 semester with classes beginning January 25.

Responsibilities

Fall 2009:  Teach the following classes and hold office hours for students.

CHE 124 MWF 9:00AM - 10:50AM - Applied Chemistry and Society.  This is a 4 credit natural science/lab science course for non-science majors that covers basic chemistry concepts in a social context. May include explorations of how chemistry impacts the environment, public health, energy policies, and other contemporary social issues. Lectures and laboratories may also include discussions and demonstrations.  Estimated salary using the 2008-09 salary schedule would be $5,822 if hired at the rank of lecturer.

CHE 351 M 1:30PM - 5:20PM - Organic Chemistry Laboratory Part I.  This is a 1 credit laboratory course which students typically take in conjunction with a 3 credit organic chemistry lecture course.  Estimated salary using the 2008-09 salary schedule would be $4,185 if hired at the rank of lecturer.

Spring 2010:  Teach the following classes and hold office hours for students.

CHE 361 1:30PM - 5:20PM - Organic Chemistry Laboratory Part II.  This is a 1 credit second semester laboratory course which students typically take in conjunction with a second semester 3 credit organic chemistry lecture course.  Estimated salary using the 2008-09 salary schedule would be $4,185 if hired at the rank of lecturer.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in chemistry or related field required. Excellence in teaching and university teaching experience required.
