“While attending UWFox, I also worked (and still do) at the Weis Earth Science Museum. I learned more about geology and earth science here than anywhere else!”

Age: 23

Hometown: Dale, WI

Current residence: Appleton

When attended UWFox: Fall 2004-Spring 2007, Enrolled at UW Oshkosh, fall 2007-present

Background before UWFox:

“I graduated from New London High School in 2004. While I was in high school, I worked at Festival Foods for a few years. Before starting at UWFox, I went on a fast-paced trip around Europe—we saw six countries in two weeks!  I visited Germany, France, England, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy.”

Why did you choose UWFox?

“I was familiar and comfortable with the campus. My mother attended some art classes there briefly, and I’d heard about the UWFox’s small class sizes.  The commuter aspect of the campus also appealed to me, since I wanted to live at home instead of in dorms.”

Have you chosen a major?

“I’m an art major with a drawing emphasis.”

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

“When I attended UWFox, I found the classes really interesting and challenging.  I particularly enjoyed the psychology and philosophy classes I took.  The professors at the campus are excellent—they’re always available if you have questions outside of class, and they do their best to really teach their students every class period.”

What are your career plans after UWFox?

“I’m a comic book geek.  My dream for a long time has been to create my own graphic novels, which I plan to do after I graduate from UWO. I believe that comics can be like literature and film—a serious way to communicate universal themes.”

Other interesting things you’d like to share?

“While attending UWFox, I also worked (and still do) at the Weis Earth Science Museum. I learned more about geology and earth science here than anywhere else!  Working at the Weis has really expanded my experience. I’ve had so many opportunities there to be working on different projects and programs, such as our Boy and Girl Scout programs and our Wisconsin Earth Adventure summer camp.

“Working at the Weis has given me so much confidence in my organizational and leadership abilities. I’m very lucky to be able to work there.  The awesome staff I get to work with at the Weis are like my extended family.”
