When attended UWFox: Fall 2012 to present

Background before UWFox

I attended Kaukauna HS and graduated in 2010. During my senior year I participated in a work co-op program and found a job in a welding/fabrication shop while at the same time receiving school credit. This program helped me find and keep that job after graduation. Immediately following that I decided to attend Fox Valley Technical College to pursue a welding degree. Once I graduated with a one-year technical degree I decided I wanted a greater challenge: to earn a bachelor’s degree. While it was a big change for me, I’m very happy with how it’s has turning out. Before I enrolled in college I traveled to many different places, including Washington D.C., Mexico, Colorado, and Florida. Traveling is an exciting adventure and I’ve met many great people along the way.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I decided to attend UWFox because it’s fairly close to where I live and where I work, making it quick and easy to get around and earn money while attending college. It’s also very affordable, which allows me to save money and stay happy! Additionally, throughout the years I’ve known many people who have attended this campus and all I’ve heard from them were positive things. I knew I wanted to start my education right and that’s why I chose UWFox.

Have you chosen a major?

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

What I find most rewarding at UWFox is that the class sizes are relatively small. This allows the students to get extra help and get to know the professors personally. It also makes it easier to get questions answered when needed. Another outstanding feature at UWFox is the learning lab environment. The workers in those labs do an excellent job tutoring students and they love what they do, making it easier to get additional assistance. The extra-curricular activities and sports events that take place on campus are very entertaining. I feel that everyone who attends those has a great time, especially when there are Packers’ parties.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

After completing my coursework at UWFox I plan on transferring to UW-Oshkosh in fall of 2013 to complete my bachelor’s degree. When I receive my bachelor’s degree I hope to find a job in this area. If I would have to move away for work, I would be thankful for that as well.

Other interesting things about yourself that you’d like to share?

I greatly enjoy being outdoors and staying active. During the day you can find me Frisbee golfing, skate and snowboarding or playing basketball. Some other interests I have are working out at the YMCA, fishing, drawing and listening to music. I listen to a few kinds of music, but admire it all. I’m a big Packers fan as well.  If you live in Wisconsin you basically have to be! During the academic year I work part-time at UWFox at the front desk in the Student Services office. This allows me to interact with hundreds of students and professors at the campus, which is something I enjoy doing; being friendly and meeting new people … the things I do best.
