“I chose to go to UWFox because of low tuition costs and because of its close proximity to my home.”

Age: 20

Hometown and current residence:Appleton; attended Appleton North High School

Current program: Kinesiology

Background before UWFox:

I started lifting weights when I was a freshman in high school and started powerlifting my junior year. I was very involved in the Appleton North Powerlifting Club, which I helped launch.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I chose to go to UWFox because of low tuition costs and because of its close proximity to my home. Even though I live on my own, it’s important for me to be in the Appleton area because I’m now the head coach of the Appleton North Powerlifting Club.

Who is your favorite professor and why?

Michelle Pieterzak, who teaches fitness. We just have a great connection; she really helps me hone in on my skills and supports my interest in the field.

Looking back on 2013, what has been your favorite experience this year?

I qualified for nationals in powerlifting in Milwaukee in January; I went to Orlando for nationals in July and took second place! I deadlifted 600 pounds, squatted 700 pounds and benched 365 pounds. I hope to take first place next year.

Where do you hope your education takes you? What is your dream job?

I hope to transfer to the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh and continue my major in kinesiology. Someday I would love to be a strength and conditioning coach for a college football team, or perhaps the NFL. Go Panthers!
