"[The professors] take the time to know your name and some even request you to stop in their office to get to know you, your academic major and personal interests in order to better help you consider what you’d like to do in the future."

Age: 22

Hometown: Winneconne

Current Residence: Appleton

When attended UWFox: Fall 2007 to Summer 2010

Background before UWFox:

“I attended Winneconne HS and graduated in the spring of 2005. I had an internship at Epiphany Law, which helped build my office and people skills.  That’s where I also realized I really liked the legal environment, and that someday I want to pursue a career in the environmental law field. I’ve traveled to Hawaii many times with my parents. I love the laid back, tropical environment and surfing – not that I’m any good at it. I would, however, love to do a study abroad program in an upcoming semester.”

Why did you choose UWFox?

“I started out at UW-Eau Claire, which is a great and beautiful school. However, coming right out of high school it was a little overwhelming for me. I would have a class full of 200 to 300 freshmen and sometimes a teaching assistant teaching the class. It was hard to meet with a professor to discuss certain issues or questions regarding assignments unless it was through email. Also, it was very expensive. I would also have preferred living in an apartment, but as an incoming freshman I had to live in a dorm…and I was not a fan of that at all!  And being away from home, I also missed my parents very much.”

Have you chosen a major?

“I’m a History and Pre-Law major. I have a great passion for history, and interning at a law firm opened new doors within the legal field for me.”

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding?

“I love the one-on-one time you can have with a professor at UWFox. They take the time to know your name and some even request you to stop in their office to get to know you, your academic major and personal interests in order to better help you consider what you’d like to do in the future. I’ve also met a lot of really great friends at UWFox that I didn’t think I would meet without the dorm life I had at UW-Eau Claire. I’ve built great friendships at UWFox.”

What are your career plans after graduation from UWFox

“I want to continue on with college and get my bachelor’s degree in history at Lawrence University or UW- Green Bay.  Then I plan on pursuing graduate school or law school.”

Other interesting things you’d like to share?

“I really love the environment at UWFox. I feel the professors, faculty, staff and peers have helped effect my great study habits, friendships and grades.  They offer so many outlets to assist you with paper writing, math, different clubs to get involved, work study, and other activities. I’m also really honored to have been nominated to be a UWFox campus ambassador this year. There are many networking opportunities, and I’m proud to represent such an outstanding campus.”
