Background before UWFox

I went to New London High School and graduated in Spring 2011. While I was in high school I worked as a Subway sandwich artist at the Fremont Citgo gas station. Before I started UWFox I was a teacher’s assistant with the Early Childhood Special Education classroom in the high school. It really got me going with what I wanted to do with my life.  That experience really opened my eyes to some amazing kids.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I live on my own with my fiancé and we needed to save money, so coming to UWFox has saved me so much money because it’s close by and it’s one of the least expensive of the UW campuses. It also has great professors and smaller class sizes (which I love!!).

Have you chosen a major?

Social Work.

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

What I find interesting at UWFox is that there is so much to do here. There is something for everyone. Even me, who is a busy body and works all the time. I’m a Student Ambassador and I love it. I like telling other future students about what a great campus we have here.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

My plans are to transfer from UWFox to UW Oshkosh and earn my bachelor’s degree with a major in Social Work. I plan on becoming a Senior Therapist for the Fox Valley Autism Treatment Program and one day become a Lead Therapist. I want to help as many kids as I can.

Other interesting things about yourself that you’d like to share?

I have the best job in the world. I am a Line Therapist with the Fox Valley Autism Treatment Program. I get to work with kids every day, and not just any kids, kids with autism. They bring joy and happiness to me every day. They make my day so much better. I grew up on a farm with three brothers and I’m engaged with plans to be married on May 29, 2015.
