Background before UWFox:
Graduated from Fond du Lac HS in spring 2003. “I had a two-year civil engineering apprenticeship with the City of Fond du Lac Engineering Department during my junior and senior years in high school. For nearly five years, 2004 through 2008, I served on active duty in the U.S. Army. I was deployed to Iraq for 13 months during 2005-2006. I reached the rank of Sergeant for the final two and a half years of my service and was honorably discharged.”
Have you chosen a major?
Civil Engineering, with a minor in Renewable Energies.
What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?
“All of the faculty and staff are genuinely interested in my academic success, and they make themselves available to students more than I expected.
What are your career plans after UW Fox?
“When I finish my Associate of Arts and Science Degree, with an emphasis in Engineering, I’ll transfer into the UWFox/UW-Platteville collaborative engineering program offered on this campus. Eventually I want to start my own business as a civil engineer and get into building ‘green’ homes.”
Other interesting things you’d like to share?
“I’m the founder and president of the first-ever ‘Veterans’ Outreach Program’ at UWFox, as well as a member of the campus’ Engineering Club, the Campus Activity Board, and the Chemistry Club. I’m also a member of Congressman Steve Kagen’s ‘Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran’s Advisory Committee.’ I’ve been married to my wife, Kelly, for three and a half years.”
