“I chose UWFox because it allowed me to take care of my general education requirements while I was deciding what my academic major was going to be.”

Age: 19

Hometown: Neenah, WI

Current residence: Neenah, WI

When attended UWFox: Summer 2009 through Spring 2011

Background before UWFox:

I attended Neenah High School and graduated in spring 2009. I had the opportunity to travel to Hawaii during early summer 2009 after I graduated from high school.

Why did you choose UWFox?

I chose UWFox because it allowed me to take care of my general education requirements while I was deciding what my academic major was going to be, so when I graduated I would have those requirements taken care of and have my mind made up on what I wanted to do for my major. Also, it allowed me to maximize my savings by being able to live at home and still be able to work while getting my college credits.

Have you chosen a major?

Human Biology

What are you learning that you find interesting and rewarding at UWFox?

As the president of two campus clubs and also a member of two others, I’m learning how to manage my time outside of college while still maintaining my grades. Even though UWFox is defined as a university I’ve found that it’s nothing like one would expect. There are no graduate student-teaching assistants (TA’s) that students are taught by or have to ask their questions. The professors are very approachable and are willing to answer any questions one would have.

What are your career plans after UWFox?

I plan to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology with a possible chemistry minor at UW-Green Bay. Then after my bachelor’s degree I plan to go to medical school to be some type of surgeon.

Other interesting things you’d like to share?

I’m currently the Biology Club president, the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society president, and a member of the Chemistry Club and the Ballroom Dance Club.
