Henry Golde “Reflections of a Holocaust Survivor”
Was it luck, fate or maybe a small miracle that Henry survived five years of imprisonment in ten Nazi concentration camps? Henry Golde will share his moving story of survival, hate and love as he experienced it first-hand as a Jew in WWII Europe.

Jean Feraca
Jean will be discussing her new book “I Hear Voices”
Jean Feraca is a 25-year veteran of public talk radio in the United States. She brings to her work the unique sensibility of a poet/humanist/journalist, combined with a lively personal style and a sense of adventure, discovery, and delight perfectly suited to creating global on-air community. Feraca is Wisconsin Public Radio's Distinguished Senior Broadcaster and has been host and co-producer of the Ideas Network's award-winning call-in news and cultural affairs program, Conversations with Jean Feraca, from 1990 to 2003.

Charles Baxter, author and Dean Bakopoulos, author and Executive Director of the Wisconsin Humanities Council
Best known for his award winning fiction novel “The Feast of Love,” Baxter has written novels, short stories, and essays. In addition to ”The Feast of Love,” which was nominated for a National Book Award, Baxter has written “Saul and Patsy,” “Believers,” and “Burning Down the House.” He is a recipient of the Award for Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and is an instructor at the University of Minnesota.

"Wisconsin Waters in a Changing Climate"
Magnuson is an Emeritus Professor of Zoology and Limnology, and past Director of the Center for Limnology as well as Principal Investigator of the North Temperate Lakes Long-Term Ecological Research Program, all at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served in various capacities on many local, state, national and international commissions, committees and panels dealing with freshwater and marine systems. Over his career he has authored more than 350 publications and 6 books. In 2000 John received the “Award of Excellence” from the American Fisheries Society, and in 2002 he received the “Lifetime Achievement Award” from the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography. His current research interests are in long-term regional ecology, aquatic ecology & climate change and variability, biodiversity and invasions, and fish and fisheries ecology. He will speak about changes occurring in Midwest waters that are already affecting us and how the changes will continue with greater intensity.

Wisconsin Waters in a Changing Climate
Climate change is more than warming. While global in its extent, climate change is realized locally in conditions and impact. Today we will talk about the changes occurring in waters in the Midwest that are already affecting us will continue to do so an greater intensities. Lake ice has become a miner's canary providing a strong local and global indication of change. Impacts of climatic change on fishes will be felt by society and will be apparent in the functioning of aquatic ecosystems. The hydrologic cycle is already changing and will continue to do so with a wide range of impacts on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

And it does so in lavish, flamboyant costumes, some with colorful flowing dresses and others that features headdresses of pheasant tails that reach more than six feet in length. Whether watching a never-seen-before ritual dance or the famous Mexican Hat Dance, audiences will get a real dance treat with Ballet Folklorico.
