The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley is hosting an innovative series of events beginning Thursday, June 20, when it kicks off the first of three “3rd Thursday” events in its Communication Arts Center (CAC). There are three such “3rd Thursday” events planned for this summer, with the other two taking place on July 18 and August 15. All three of the related events run from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and are slated to be held on the second floor outside terrace of the CAC.
Megan Mudge, UWFox CAC events coordinator, developed, implemented and promoted the idea to the campus and the greater Fox Cities community. “I hope these events can help bring the community together. I was inspired to try to implement it here at UWFox based on a similar program at UW-Madison.”
“3rd Thursday” is a free event and open to the public; there will be a cash bar offered. “One of the things I wanted to bring to this event was the opportunity to help local not-for-profit organizations,” Mudge said. “After covering our expenses, proceeds from the cash bar and from the free-will contributions will go to pre-selected non-profit organizations.”
The June 20th “3rd Thursday” will benefit the Red Cross of Northeastern Wisconsin. The July 18th event will benefit REACH Counseling Services, Inc. The August 15th event will benefit the Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley, Inc.
According to Mudge, “Each ‘3rd Thursday’ will offer live music, food, and friendship,” in addition to the cash bar. If the weather is inclement, the event will be moved inside to one of the lobbies in the CAC. “It’s a great opportunity to enjoy yourself for a good cause … to socialize and make some new friends,” Mudge said.
“We want UWFox to be a place where people can come for an education and to have fun,” she summarized.
There is no pre-registration for “3rd Thursday.”
