For adults who have busy agendas, working and taking care of their families, the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley may have just the ticket to help them get their college education in a manner that can fit into an active lifestyle. The new “Accelerated Learning Program” allows a student to enroll in a new, fully-accredited course approximately every five weeks.Tammy Brunette

“The Accelerated Learning Program is a great way for adult students to obtain a quality education in a convenient and flexible way,” according to Tammy Brunette, adult student coordinator at UWFox.

All of the courses in the Accelerated Learning Program are taught by university faculty through a hybrid method that allows students to attend courses one evening per week and continue to conveniently learn through the campus’ online format. “Hybrid learning is an efficient and flexible method designed to meet the educational needs of today’s busy adult students,” said Carla Rabe, interim assistant dean for Student Services.

The Accelerated Learning Program presently offers courses in business – including accounting, management information systems, ethics, economics, statistics - as well as social science, communications, biology, math, music, and geography which can lead to the UWFox “Certificate in Business,” and eventually to the Associate of Arts and Science Degree.

“This is an enhanced educational opportunity for businesses and their employees, with the Accelerated Learning Program creating a learning environment for the working adult that can be convenient for both the employee and the employer,” said Rabe. “UWFox developed this program with the local business community in mind.”

Once completed, students have the option to conveniently pursue and earn one of UWFox’s four collaborative bachelor’s degrees, with all of the required courses for those degree programs held on the Menasha campus.
