“Assassins,” the musical by John Weidman and Stephen Sondheim, is being performed in the Fine Arts Theatre on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley on April 20-22 and 27-29. All shows begin at 7 p.m.
Directed by Susan Rabideau, UWFox theatrical director and assistant professor of communication arts, this American musical delves deeply into the lives of nine individuals who assassinated or tried to assassinate the President of the United States. From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald, the rules of time and space are bent, taking the audience on a rollercoaster ride in which assassins and would-be assassins from different historical periods meet, interact and inspire each other to harrowing acts in the name of the American dream. Rabideau endorsed the university’s choice and performance of the musical by saying, “People should come to see ‘Assassins’ because Sondheim is a musical genius! It is a show not done very often because of its difficulty and this cast is fantastic.”
UWFox is located at 1478 Midway Road in Menasha. Tickets are $9 for adults, $7 for students and $5 for UWFox students. To purchase tickets, call the box office at 832-2646.
