The Fox Valley Concert Band presents its annual Spring Concert, and its final performance for the 2011-2012 academic year, on Friday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. in Perry Hall on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley.
The Fox Valley Concert Band is under the direction of Dr. Marc Sackman, UWFox associate professor of music and director of bands. The concert will feature a performance of "Enchanted Falls" by UW Oshkosh Professor of Music Ed Martin. The piece is dedicated to his wife Amy, who plays oboe in the Concert Band.
Also on the program will be, "After the Thunderer," by Ira Hearshen, based on a theme from John Philip Sousa's march, "The Thunderer," which the Concert Band will also perform. Continuing the thunder theme, programmed are Strauss' "Thunder and Lightning Polka" and "Rolling Thunder,” by Henry Fillmore. Rounding out the evening will be Sammy Nestico's "Salute to American Jazz,” which will feature UWFox music student Adam Hatton on drum kit.
The Fox Valley Concert Band is composed of university students, alumni and Fox Valley residents. The concert is free and open to the public with unreserved seating. For more information about this event, contact Sackman at 832-2625 or email email@example.com.
