The Barlow Planetarium is hosting a "Concert in the Dome," on Thursday, June 15, from 7:00 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. “The Lights Band” is performing two sets with an intermission, and is expected to include original songs from their new CD as well as some “cover” songs.
“The unique setting of the planetarium allows illusions and special effects to enhance the musical experience as the concert will transport audiences to foreign locales, deep space through the Barlow's exciting 3-D virtual cosmos,” according to Karen Klamczynski, planetarium director.
Members of “The Lights Band” say their unique sound was influenced by many people and things, including the Allman Brothers, Thelonious Monk, Kurt Vonnegut, Motown, Joni Mitchell, Brett Favre, and even Lake Winnebago!
The music is appropriate for all ages, with the music expected to be approximately as loud as it would be in a small club venue.
Tickets are $8 each and are available in advance of the show at the Planetarium Box Office or from band members directly. Remaining tickets will be sold on the day of the show beginning 1/2 hour before start of the concert.
Regular summer Barlow Planetarium Box Office hours are: Wednesday-Friday, Noon-2:00 p.m.; Friday & Saturday, 6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. -3:30 p.m. For more information about the concert, please call 920-832-2868 or email Karen.Klamczynski@uwc.edu.
