UW-Fox Valley Presents Holiday 2001 Concert
One of the entertainment highlights of the musical season occurs this Sunday, December 9, when the University of Wisconsin–Fox Valley presents its Holiday Concert. The Fox Valley Concert Band and the UWFox Chorale are each scheduled to perform, beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the UWFox campus.
The concert is open to the public, and there is NO admission charge.
Plenty of free parking is available on the west side of the campus.
The Fox Valley Concert Band is a "communi-versity band," according to UWFox Associate Professor of Music Dave Jordahl, and Concert Band Director. There are over 60 members of the Concert Band, with approximately 40 musicians being members of the Fox Cities community representing a wide range of ages for members.
The Concert Band members’ backgrounds are quite diverse: some individuals are with major corporations, some are teachers, and some are retirees. All of them come together to play in this group for the same reason: the love of music.
"The Concert Band did its first concert in May, 1985, and has performed four concerts a year since then," Jordahl reflects.
Selections by the Fox Valley Concert Band include:
- Cuernavaca Joseph Willcox Jenkins
- Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring J.S. Bach / Alfred Reed
- Perpetuum Mobile J.Strauss / Alfred Reed
- Incantation and Dance John Barnes Chance
