The
Fox Valley Concert Band and UWFox Chorale are presenting their first public
performances of this academic year in the UWFox Fine Arts Theatre at 7:30
p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 2004.
This concert is the debut performance of band director Dr. Marc Sackman, who joined the faculty at UWFox this year as Assistant Professor of Music. The UWFox Chorale is under the direction of Linda Feldman, Associate Lecturer in Music. Feldman also joined the UWFox faculty this fall.
The Fox Valley Concert Band, described as the “communiversity” band because it is comprised of both students and community members, will showcase six pieces, ranging from contemporary to Celtic to big band. “It’s a nice selection,” said Sackman. “There’s something for everyone.”
Among
the Concert Band selections are, Marche Lorraine (Louis Garne); Slavonic
Dances #8 (Antonin Dvorak); The Leaves Are Falling (Warren Benson); Hands
Across The Sea (John Philip Sousa); Big Bands in Concert (arr. by Bob
Lowden); Mannin Veen: A Manx Tone Poem (Haydn Wood).
The UWFox Chorale selections are, Gloria (Antonio Vivaldi); Ave Verum (W.A. Mozart); Kyrie Eleison (Ruth Schramm); Ain’a That Good News (Willam Dawson); Seasons of Love (J. Larson); and Adiemus (Karl Jenkins).
