The University of Wisconsin - Fox Valley is presenting its annual Winter Concert on Sunday, March 10, at 3:00 p.m. The site of the annual music gala is the UWFox Fine Arts Theatre, located in the middle of the campus. The Fox Valley Concert Band program is FREE, for the public to enjoy.
The Fox Valley Concert Band is a "communiversity band," says UWFox Associate Professor of Music Dave Jordahl. There are more than 60 members, with approximately 40 musicians being members of the greater Fox Cities community - not necessarily students enrolled at UWFox! Ages of the band members range from 18-77 years.
The band members’ backgrounds are quite diverse, too. Some are employed full time with corporations around the Fox Cities, while some are teachers, several are retirees - and, some are students.
All the members perform in the band for the same reason: the love of performing musically.
"The band gave its first concert in May, 1985, and has performed in four concerts per year since then," according to Jordahl.
The Fox Valley Concert Band selections include:
- V. Hobbits, from "Symphony #1, The Lord of the Rings Johann de Meij
