John Patrick Shanley’s brilliant 2005 Pulitzer prize-winning play, “Doubt,”embarks upon a six-show run at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley in February.
Set in a Catholic school in the Bronx in 1964, “Doubt”pits a rigid nun against an innovative, spontaneous priest. Sister is the school principal. Father serves the parish church and coaches boys’ basketball. Sister thinks Father has stepped over the line. She is determined to “bring him down.” Directed by Susan Rabideau, UWFox theatre director and associate professor of theatre and communication arts, the cast is a blend of UWFox students and community members. Rabideau commented, “The thing I like best about the show is that you and your best friend can see the show together and you can each reach a totally different conclusion.”
Show dates are February 4, 5, 6 and February 11 and 12, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. A matinee is scheduled for February 13 at 2:00 p.m. All shows are in the Baehman Theatre within the new Communication Arts Center at UWFox. Tickets are $12 for adults, $9 for seniors and students, and $5 for UWFox students. To purchase tickets, go online to https://foxtickets.uwc.edu or call the box office at (920) 832-2646.
