UWFox Hosts Performance by ‘Gaelic Storm’

Gaelic Storm, one of the most exciting musical groups to perform in the Fox Cities, is making another special appearance at the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley on Tuesday, March 4, at 7:00 p.m. in the campus’ Fine Arts Theatre. The performance is sponsored by the UWFox Campus Activities Board and is free and open to the public with a limited number of seats available through a ticket distribution at the campus.  

Gaelic StormGaelic Storm plays over 125 show dates per year, offering “a unique brand of high energy Celtic music,” and features members Patrick Murphy (Cork City, Ireland), Steve Twigger (Coventry, England), Ryan Lacey (Los Angeles, CA), Pete Purvis (Merrickville, Ontario) and Jesse Burns (Suffolk, England). Their show has been described as “dynamic,” featuring “rousing, upbeat vocals, wild energetic dance tunes, haunting ballads, and infectious madcap humor,” that brings out “enthusiastic audience interaction.”

“Gaelic Storm” has played at Milwaukee’s Irish-Fest, the Celtic-Fest in Chicago, the Dublin, Ohio Irish Festival, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival, and the Festival Interceltique in Lorient, France, and has performed previously at UWFox.

Gaelic Storm achieved international notoriety through their appearance in the blockbuster film, “Titanic,” portraying the party band in the steerage scene. 

The group has released six albums, with the most recent being, “Bring Yer Wellies,” produced in 2006.

The free tickets to Gaelic Storm’s performance may be reserved by UWFox students beginning February 6, with one ticket provided per student identification card. Tickets can be reserved by the general public beginning February 13, with an allowance of two tickets per person. Tickets can be picked up beginning at 4:00 p.m. the day of the performance, March 4. Any tickets not picked up by 6:45 p.m. on the day of the performance are scheduled to be released on a first-come, first-served basis prior to the performance.

Requests for ticket reservations should be made directly to the UWFox Box Office, 920-832-2646. The Box Office hours are 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
