Gems Logo The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley, Affinity Health System, and the University of Wisconsin-Extension/Outagamie County have teamed up to host a one-day event, “Girls in Engineering, Mathematics and Science” (GEMS). This event is designed for girls in grades six, seven and eight.

GEMS takes place on Saturday, November 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at UWFox, 1478 Midway Road, Menasha, WI.

GEMS features fifteen exciting workshops with activities such as creating a graphic design logo, building a wind meter to test wind currents, practice putting casts on, and making your own lip gloss. There will also be learning sessions on topics such as women’s impact on technology and developing healthy eating habits.

Keynote speaker Dr. Beth A.
