UW-Fox Valley Hosts Nationally Recognized Jazz Artist

The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley is hosting one of the nation's gifted young jazz musicians at its campus on Wednesday, September 19, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Student Union. Loston Harris has been heralded as "one of the nation's hip new artists bringing a resurgence in romance and jazz."

Harris' appearance is part of the UWFox's noontime student entertainment program for the 2001-2002 academic year.

Harris was the only jazz artist performing at this past year's "Movieline Oscars VIP event" at the Los Angeles House of Blues, along with Earth Wind & Fire and deejay Moby.

He has been nominated for a Soul Train Award for Best Vocalist. He combines his own original stylings with music of his favorite singers.

Harris has performed at Elton John's AIDS Benefit 2001 in New York, along with other noted artists. One of his most unique features is as the featured vocalist in recent Michael Jordan television commercials for Hanes, singing "It Had to Be You."

Harris' first CD / album, "Comes Love," rose quickly to the top ten on jazz sales lists. It features him as an accomplished pianist and talented vocalist.

Loston Harris' appearance is free and open to the public. The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley is located at 1478 Midway Road, Menasha, between S. Oneida St. on the east, S. Appleton Road on the west and just south of Hwy. #441.
