The University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley Foundation, Inc. is holding its third annual Scholars Evening on Thursday, April 27, in the campus Student Union. The program, which is hosted by the Foundation's Board of Directors and begins at 5:30 p.m., brings together the scholarship recipients with the generous individuals and businesses that have established these awards. Students who will be entering UWFox for the fall 2006 semester and students who will be continuing their education at the campus for the coming academic year will be honored.
Lisa Weiner, Executive Director of the Foundation, said that the Foundation will be awarding 122 scholarships worth $154,095 to 90 students. That doesn't include the scholarships that will be awarded to the students departing UWFox this spring to pursue their degree at four-year campuses. Those scholarships will be presented at the campus 2006 commencement ceremony on May 19.
"Among the 13 UW Colleges campus foundations, the UW-Fox Valley Foundation ranks number one in terms of total dollars awarded for 2006-2007 student scholarships. We are very proud of this distinction," Weiner said.
Paulette Laffin, Foundation president and Weiner will address the audience and provide insightful comments about this year's fundraising and awards programs.
Individual donors and representatives of organizational donors in attendance will be personally presenting their respective scholarship to the student recipients.
