The Fox Valley Concert Band will present its 2008 holiday concert on Saturday, December 13 at 4 p.m.
The program will be a collection of spirit-filled songs of the season and opens with the “Rejouissance” by James Curnow. “Leaves Are Falling” by Warren Benson will usher in a fine work for band, “Chester, Overture for Band” by Schuman.
The second half of the performance will ramp up into the holiday atmosphere with trumpet fanfares, a waltz and a march. The audience will enjoy “Bugler’s Holiday” by Leroy Anderson, featuring Bob Cheal, Mary Lynch and Tom Sather on trumpet. “Emperor Waltz” by Strauss, “Florentiner March” by Julius Fučik and “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson will conclude the celebratory performance.
The Fox Valley Concert Band, composed of university students, alumni and Fox Valley residents, is directed by Dr. Marc Sackman, conductor and associate professor of music at UWFox. The event, being held in the campus’ Fine Arts Theatre, is free and open to the public with unreserved seating.
