Eve Ensler's groundbreaking show, "The Vagina Monologues," returns to the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley with performances scheduled for Thursday, February 12, Friday, February 13, and Saturday, February 14. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre.
“The Vagina Monologues” is targeted at stopping rape and violence against women. “When the show was held at UWFox in 2002, we raised over $5500.00 for the Harbor House,” said Susan Rabideau, theatrical director and associate professor of Communication and Theatre Arts at the Menasha campus.
Rabideau added, “This year’s beneficiaries are REACH Counseling, the Sexual Assault Crisis Center, a children’s center in Namibia, and 10% for the ‘Spotlight Fund’ in the Congo.”
Many of the Fox Cities’ finest actresses are included in the play, including Ashley Boe, Lynn Boenker, Edie Bohlen-Riemer, Ia Bolz, Caitlin Diedrich, Pat Dobberke, Judy Dolnick, Cheri Duchrow, Adrienne Fails, Laurie Friedman-Fammin, Kathleen Hannah, Darlene Hengels, Tammy J. Ladwig, Jessica Long, Kendrah Pearson, Larissa Petersen, Rabideau, Angela Ramey, Sara Schumacher, Sarah Ann Seegers, Christian Smith, and Cindy Yungwirth.
“Part of the ticket proceeds goes toward ending the violence against women,” Rabideau said. “If you are a woman or love a woman, you must see this show. Don’t let the name scare you away,” she advised.
Ticket prices for each of three performances are $10 (regular admission), $7.00 (students and senior citizens), and $5 for UWFox students. For more information about tickets and about the performances, contact campus box office at 920-832-2646 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
