Fox Valley Concert Band, Featuring Guest Performer Nan Raphael on Piccolo, to Perform at UWFox

The Fox Valley Concert Band is presenting its annual winter concert on Friday, March 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley. The concert is highlighting the talents of Nan Raphael on piccolo for several numbers in the performance.
Led by Dr. Marc Sackman, assistant professor of music and band director at UWFox, the Fox Valley Concert Band is scheduled to play, “La Forza del Destino Overture” (Verdi), “Nature’s Way” (Schuller), and “Cajun Folk Songs” (Ticheli).
Raphael is featured on “Concerto for Piccolo and Wind Band” (Singer), “Nightingale Polka”(Koehler), “George Washington Bicentennial” (Sousa), “Dance of the Southern Lights” (Richards), and “Stars and Stripes Forever” (Sousa).
Raphael has been a frequent soloist at concerts and festivals across the United States, and has performed at the Kennedy Center, the Chautauqua Institute, the Boca Raton Pops, and the National Flute Association Convention.
Additionally, she’s toured Eastern Europe and China with the American Flute Orchestra in 2004 and 2005. She was a featured soloist on over 22 tours nationwide and abroad with the U.S. Army Field Band and was a winner of the National Flute Association’s Convention Performer’s Competition.

The Fox Valley Concert Band is comprised of UWFox students as well as talented members of the community. The performance is free and open to the public, with seating unreserved.
